Frequently Asked Questions

Why should I hire Hofmann Law Offices to represent me?

7 GUARANTEES. Paul Hofmann has practiced personal injury law since 1990, and has personally handled hundreds of injury claims, including motor vehicle accidents, medical negligence, animal attacks, and many other instances of individual, government, and corporate negligence. Hofmann Law Offices’ attorneys have all been carefully selected and are equally competent to handle your case. Most importantly, Hofmann Law Offices represents the ONLY law firm in Tucson that has the confidence, competence, and track record to give you 7 Guarantees so you can rest assured you will get the best outcome possible. THOROUGHNESS. Many people with personal injury claims shortchange themselves by choosing a large firm that relegates their case to a legal assistant or inexperienced attorney. Hofmann Law Offices’ attorneys, on the other hand, will personally handle your case, making sure that all of the facts necessary to the successful outcome of your case are pursued.

CLIENT BILL OF RIGHTS. We care about our clients. Although many lawyers say that, we have codified it as a standard every law firm should aspire to reach. Currently, Hofmann Law Offices is the ONLY law firm in Tucson that meets the standard. We want you to be informed at every stage of your case and we welcome your questions. We also want to know every way in which your injury has affected your life. Most of all, we want you to be satisfied with the outcome of your case. As the leading adherents to the Client Bill of Rights, we give you peace of mind knowing you will get the best outcome.

Should I contact a lawyer?

That depends. For some small, uncomplicated claims, hiring an attorney may not make economical sense for you. Most lawyers will let you know this up front. At Hofmann Law Offices we’ll review your options at your free initial consultation. Among other things, a personal injury lawyer should be providing you with the skill, knowledge and experience necessary to handle all of the investigation, research and legal proceedings to add to the value of your claim and to assure the best possible outcome.

What is the value of my claim?

Determining the value of a personal injury claim is part science, part art, and a large part advocacy and persuasive skills. The primary factor, however, is the specific nature of the injuries and economic losses that you’ve sustained. The extent of these damages probably won’t be fully known until you’ve completed your treatment or your condition has stabilized. Many other factors will impact the value of your claim all of which require an experienced eye.

I’ve been injured—what should I do first?

See a doctor! If you feel that you’ve suffered an injury, your first and foremost concern should be your health. Whether you ever pursue a claim against the person or entity that caused your injury is much less important than seeking immediate medical care if you need it. If a representative from the insurance company contacts you, do not speak to them about the facts of the accident or your injuries without first receiving guidance from a lawyer.

What if I've been injured in an automobile accident and the other party doesn't have insurance?

If you have Uninsured Motorist coverage on your auto insurance policy, you can file your claim through your own insurance company. If you do not have this coverage, you should contact a personal injury attorney who can examine your situation including any other insurance coverages you may have to determine your options.

Do I have to accept the insurance company's offer?

No. You do not have to accept the insurance company’s offer. It will often be very low because the insurance company is trying to save themselves money. Attorneys can on average recoup 40% more for you than if you attempted to handle the claim yourself. So don’t feel you have to accept the first offer from the insurance company, and do seriously consider obtaining expert help from a personal injury attorney.

What should I say to mine and the other party's insurance company if I am injured in an automobile accident?

Always speak to a personal injury attorney before you speak to your insurance company. Insurance adjusters are skilled at asking questions that unnerve accident victims and they may cause you to say something that damages your case. And never speak with the negligent driver’s insurance company representatives since they are primarily interested in saving their company money as opposed to helping you with your claim or injuries. Once you choose an attorney to handle your case, you should let your attorney speak to any insurance company representatives.

How can my family and friends help?

Do not share your accident details with family and friends. Especially keep communications about the accident off of the internet. Your family and friends can best help by making sure you get the care you need to fully regain your health and well being. They will be your best support group as you manage your life during the process. Communicate details of your accident only to your attorney and law firm staff helping you with the case.
